“An optimum A260/280 ratio for gDNA extraction is approx.1.8, but values around 1.7- 1.9 ensure that the gDNA is suitable for downstream PCR and other applications. Protein contamination lowers A260/280 ratio. Proper Proteinase K treatment ensures removal of contaminating proteins and denaturation of nucleases which help in increasing A260/280 ratios.”
